The Dovecote - Heritage Stonework & Conversion

As the name suggests, this building was originally a dovecote.

The clients obtained planning permission to convert it into a dwelling and asked us to carry out the stonework, brickwork, and associated structural work needed to bring the project together in a heritage style.

Our work on the project included:

  • Creating new top and bottom openings on the side elevations to match the existing features.

  • Carrying out full repointing to unify the stonework and enhance the overall look.

  • Installing structural steels to support the new layout.

  • First-fix carpentry throughout.

  • Fitting new windows in keeping with the character of the building.

  • Installing a new porch and balcony to complete the overall design.

The clients were extremely happy with the finished result - and I think it looks great too. This project was a pleasure to work on, breathing new life into a historic structure while keeping its heritage character intact.
